The hardest part of the Bartender Boxing Org. program is taking that first step in applying. For a group of industry professionals who have not undertaken proper technical boxing instruction or put themselves through the gruelling mental and physical challenge of preparing for a sanctioned amateur bout before, that first step is a mighty one indeed.
People put themselves out there and into the unknown because they need or want real-life change to the everyday. Taking something unexpected like boxing and applying the teachings of repetition, ownership, responsibility, commitment, and discipline has a positive impact on every aspect of your life. It just does.
After that initial “oh-no, what have I gotten myself into now!?” moment, once our competitors conquer themselves by applying self-belief, perspective and the goal to commit 100%, is the gradual feeling of improvement that comes with consistency, the impact of making more of the better decisions each day, that ultimately leads to the true comradery, finding comfort in the uncomfortable, wanting to improve each and every day, and frankly, just being better at crushing life – is what makes this such an incredible journey. Many of our competitors go on to become true students of the sport.

Boxing is really, really hard. Spending time just getting the basics right can take a lifetime. But it’s the human spirit, and in those inevitable moments when you find yourself shadowboxing in the bathroom mirror, practising footwork standing in line at the grocery store, ducking and weaving branches on your morning run, or just blowing off steam by throwing lightening combinations in your lounge room as you get off the couch, that let you know you’re on one of the most magical journeys, one of self-importance, something significant.
