Of all the places Australian Bartender of the Year, James Irvine, imagined he’d be making cocktails, Hendrick’s Master Distiller Lesley Gracie’s laboratory probably wasn’t one of them. However, winning Australian Bartender of the Year does open those Distillery doors.

Consummate professional, James Irvine, a legend of the industry, took out top honors with his two stunning drinks – ‘Goes Na-nana-nana’ and ‘Crust off’. “What an awesome experience and another very, very fun event,” said James after the win.

The Bartender of the Year Competition which is proudly sponsored by Hendrick’s Gin & Monkey Shoulder is getting a bit of a shake-up in 2023. With a whopping prize of a trip to Scotland on offer, the format of the comp has also been changed, meaning the entire event will run over one day.
I was impressed by how calm the competitors were and how well they presented. Kate, Liam and Priscilla were incredible, and I am so happy that Priscilla took out the 2022 Bartender of the year title. She truly deserved it!
