Restaurateur and Entrepreneur, Maurice Terzini (Icebergs Dining Room and Bar, CicciaBella, RE) has opened his first venue in Byron Bay with Belongil Beach Italian Food, in association with long-time business partner Deke Miskin and General Manger and business partner Dave Owen (CicciaBella and formerly Icebergs Dining Room and Bar).
Terzini had his sights on Byron Bay for many years and in 2021, an opportunity arose in one of his favourite spots, Belongil Beach. Terzini and the team celebrate local producers and the community whereever possible, showcasing the best of the Northern Rivers NSW and Australian family owned and operated businesses.
Terzini describes the new venue, saying “[it is] a simple everyday beach restaurant. We enjoy working with local producers and providing folks with laughter, food and wine.”
The menu designed by Belongil Beach Italian Food Head Chef, Danny Rossi and in partnership with Alex Prichard (Icebergs Dining Room and Bar), sticks to the regional ethos with buffalo mozzarella from Byron Bay and pipis from Goolwa featured on the Italian-style menu.
Terzini describes the new venue, saying “[it is] a simple everyday beach restaurant. We enjoy working with local producers and providing folks with laughter, food and wine.”
The wine list echoes that from sister restaurant in Sydney, CicciaBella, but the Belongil Beach Italian Food wine list will support local, small production or family run wineries. These producers are sustainable, practice ethical farming and, where possible, use minimal intervention in making their wines.
The vibe for Belongil Beach Italian Food is in line with the Terzini DNA. It’s family friendly and welcoming to all locals and travellers. The design is inspired by everything the team loves about Byron Bay, a relaxed contemporary feel designed by George Livissianis.
