Mill Place Merchants, Melbourne’s newest speakeasy, opened its doors on Thursday, April 18th. Tucked away at the end of Mill Place, off Flinders Lane, this 60-seat venue inside a 19th-century building promises to be a hotspot for cocktails and light bites.

Upon entering through a monogrammed red door, guests are transported to an old dressing room filled with vintage decor, leading to a secret bar area adorned with Victorian furniture and a gleaming copper-topped bar.

Director Paawan Engineer aimed to create a space of genuine hospitality where guests can relax and enjoy expertly crafted cocktails, curated by Italian mixologist Giancarlo Mancino, and a menu by Chef Deepak Mishra featuring modern twists on traditional dishes with native Australian ingredients.

The ambience is enhanced with live acoustic music, ranging from smooth jazz to energetic swing tunes. Mill Place Merchants offers a hidden gem for pre-dinner drinks or post-event nightcaps, open Tuesday to Saturday.
